Porthcurno Beach
Porthcurno Beach is a stunning beach on the South West Coast of Cornwall which has been a popular filming location for the Poldark series. With spectacular turquoise waters, the white beach is sheltered by impressive cliffs either side. This beautiful destination provided the perfect setting for some scenes of Nampara Cove. In series two it is used as the backdrop for the dream sequence in which Demelza and Ross are walking along the beach in the sun. As well as being a place of outstanding beauty, Porthcurno has significant historical importance. In 1870 a telegraph cable was landed undersea to the USA and over the years this increased to fourteen cables all of which facilitated global communications.
