Stepper Point
Stepper Point was a popular choice for filming when a headland scene with a spectacular back drop was needed. The rugged clifftops and impressive, far reaching coastal views provided a wonderful setting for some of the dramatic Poldark horse riding scenes. Stepper Point is a headland with breathtaking views, overlooking the Camel Estuary and Padstow. At low tide, the infamous Doom Bar, the sand bank that has been the cause of many shipwrecks, can be seen in the middle of the Estuary. A stone tower stands on the headland of Stepper Point and this was built as a navigation beacon for seamen during the day. Stepper Point was designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to its geological features.
