Charlestown
Charlestown’s picturesque and beautifully preserved Georgian Harbour was used as the setting for the Truro harbour scenes in Poldark.  Part of a World Heritage Site and a Grade II Listed Harbour, Charlestown is considered the best preserved copper ore and china clay port of this period anywhere in the world. In series 2, Charlestown harbour is the location for Francis’s reconciliation with Captain Andrew Blamey, Verity’s husband whom Francis and Ross meet on the harbour wall. Series two also sees Ross set sail with the smugglers ship from the harbour, destined for the Isles of Scilly to meet Mark. The impressive sight of the tall ships, if they are in the harbour, is spectacular and gives an increased sense of history to this wonderful destination.
