Crantock Beach

Crantock Beach

Located between Pentire and West Pentire headlands, Crantock Beach is a vast expanse of beautiful golden sand. The southern end of the beach is sheltered by high cliffs, while the mouth of the River Gannel can be found to the north. Once a navigable port, the river is now much diminished.

High sand dunes form much of the beach's backdrop and these grassy dunes are an important wildlife habitat.

Towards the western end of the beach, there's a large gap in the cliffs which leads to a cave known as Piper's Hole. The steep cliffs in this area are home to many seabirds, and at low tide visitors can explore the cave, which has carvings dating back over 100 years.

Crantock Beach is just a 15-minute drive from the popular seaside town of Newquay.
