Porthgwarra
Porthgwarra Cove is a small and beautiful beach between Land’s End and Porthcurno. A tunnel in the rock at the bottom of the slipway was dug by local tin miners and used by farmers to transport the seaweed they had collected from the cove to their farms, for use as a fertiliser.  There is another tunnel local fishermen had used to reach a store where they would keep their catch in the tidal waters before taking the fish to market. It is therefore quite apt that the filming of the landing of the pilchards scene in series one of Poldark took place here. It was also the location where Ross Poldark had his much talked about early morning swim spied on by Demelza, also in series one.
