Poldark Series 4, episode 2 aired last night on the BBC in the UK. For those who saw it, this quick blog post explains where the Cornwall filming locations can be found. For those who live overseas and have not seen it yet, it was great, and don’t worry, we have written these notes in such a way that hopefully there are no spoilers. Hopefully we will see you in Cornwall soon.

Ok, here we go, with links to download our free maps showing the different locations…

  • The opening shot that pans over the sea is filmed at Holywell Bay and the two iconic Rocks in the background are called Carter’s Rock (sometimes known as Gull Rocks) More information about Holywell Bay including a free map can be found here
  • Ross and Demelza walking across the clifftop is filmed near Porth Loe. This location can be found about 1km north of Porthgwarra. More information about this area including a free map can be found here 
  • Gwennap Head is the fantastic location for the shot when Ross is on horseback looking out to sea. This location is between Porthgwarra and Porth Loe.
  • There is a brief shot of the exterior of Nampara cottage which is filmed near the town of St Breward. More information about this area including a free map can be found here 
  • The scene where the men carry the May Pole up the slipway was filmed at Penberth Cove (which is often used as the location for Sawle Village). More information about Penberth Cove including a free map can be found here. Arguably, one of the most memorable scenes of the episode was when Drake and Morwenna meet, and this was also filmed on the same slipway.
  • Ross and Demelza ride together along the clifftops at Predannack Wollas – This can be found 1km south of Mullion Cove. More information about this area including a free map can be found here
  • Whilst Drake and Demelza are walking along the clifftops they meet Emma Tregirls. This was filmed at Porth Loe which can be found about 1km north of Porthgwarra. More information about this area including a free map can be found here 
  • Demelza rides alone to see Armitage. These superb shots were filmed at Predannack Wollas which can be found 1km south of Mullion Cove. More information about this area including a free map can be found here
  • The scene where Dwight and Ross walk along the harbour wall was filmed at Charlestown Harbour, used to depict Truro Harbour. More information including a map of town and local area can be found on here
  • Sam and Emma Tregirls talk on the slipway at Penberth Cove (Sawle Village). More information about this location including a free map can be found here
  • The closing scene is where Demelza and the children say farewell to Ross as he sets off  for London in a horse carriage. This farewell scene was filmed at Gwennap Head (about 1km north of Porthgwarra). More information about this area including a free map can be found here
